Aftercare and support

Support after the sale, described honestly

A used vehicle will need money spent on it at some point, because every used vehicle does. Our job after the sale is to tell you what to expect, in what order, and roughly what it will cost — not to sell you a warranty you do not need.

What aftercare means here

Four things you can rely on

We answer the telephone

Questions after a sale are usually small ones: what oil, how often, is that noise normal. Ring us and we will answer rather than deflect.

  • Telephone support during opening hours
  • Email answered on the next working day
  • No charge for asking a question
  • We will say when we do not know

We explain service intervals properly

Manufacturer intervals assume ideal conditions. Riding or driving short distances through a Blackburn winter is not ideal conditions.

  • Mileage-based intervals, not calendar-only
  • Shorter intervals for short-trip use
  • Consumables listed in order of likely need
  • Costs indicated honestly rather than guessed

We do not sell a warranty

We do not sell extended warranties, mechanical breakdown cover or a guarantee period, and we never imply one in conversation.

  • No warranty product at the desk
  • Condition disclosed in writing instead
  • Statutory rights unaffected
  • No cover period implied verbally

We point you at people we actually use

Where a job is beyond what we do in the yard, we will name the local specialists we would use ourselves.

  • Local workshops we have used
  • Tyre and exhaust suppliers
  • Electrical and diagnostic specialists
  • No commission taken for an introduction
Seasonal ownership

Looking after a vehicle in a Lancashire climate

Winter lay-up — aftercare guidance from Hamilton Street Motors

Winter lay-up

Wet Lancashire winters are hard on a bike that is standing. Battery conditioning, a full tank and a covered spot matter more than polish.

Spring recommissioning — aftercare guidance from Hamilton Street Motors

Spring recommissioning

Before the first long ride of the year: fluids, tyres, brakes, chain and a genuine check of the charging circuit.

Short-trip wear — aftercare guidance from Hamilton Street Motors

Short-trip wear

A car used mostly for short town trips wears its battery, exhaust and clutch faster than one that does a weekly motorway run.

What to expect, and when

Aftercare questions

What owners ask us after a sale

What if something goes wrong shortly after I buy?
Telephone us first. Most enquiries are about consumables, storage or a noise that turns out to be nothing. Where a fault is genuinely ours to answer for, we will deal with it, and our terms of sale set out where responsibility sits.
Do you service vehicles after sale?
We run a workshop bay and can carry out preparation and maintenance work at the published hourly rate, subject to availability. We will tell you if a job is better suited to a specialist.
Can you store the vehicle for me?
Under-cover storage is available at the published weekly rate, which suits buyers who need a week or two before collection and seasonal riders over winter.
Will you look at a vehicle I bought elsewhere?
We will talk it through with you on the telephone and give you an honest view. Where it needs hands on it, we will quote at the published rate before starting.
