How a part exchange works at this yard
No valuation fee against a purchase, no arrangement fee, and no figure that shrinks once you have shaken hands on it.
- Bring the vehicle inRide or drive it to the yard with the V5C, the service history you have and any receipts for recent work. An appointment is better but not essential.
- We assess it properlyCondition, recorded mileage, paperwork and the cost of any preparation the vehicle will need before it can be offered on the yard.
- A written figure, same dayYou get a number on paper, not a range and not a phone call the next morning. The figure is held against a named vehicle for seven days.
- Settle the differenceOnly the difference between the two figures changes hands. Any outstanding finance on your vehicle must be declared and settled first.
- Paperwork in one visitNew keeper slip for the vehicle coming in, keeper change for the one going out, and a signed invoice listing every fee.
Six things we look at, in order
Condition and disclosed faults
Scuffs, corrosion, a worn chain or a soft brake lever all move the number, and we will show you where we think the money goes.
Recorded mileage
Mileage matters less than condition on a used motorcycle, but a consistent service history at the right intervals is worth real money.
Preparation required
What it will cost us to get the vehicle onto the yard honestly: tyres, pads, battery, a service and any cosmetic work.
Demand for the category
A 125cc commuter in spring is easier to move than a big tourer in December, and the figure reflects that honestly.
Paperwork and history
A complete V5C, a stamped book and receipts for recent work all help. A missing V5C has to be resolved before any exchange completes.
Outstanding finance
If there is finance on the vehicle it must be declared at the start. We cannot complete an exchange on a vehicle with unsettled finance.
The documents that make it a same-day process
Missing paperwork is the single most common reason an exchange takes a week instead of an afternoon.

Sometimes selling privately is the better answer
We will tell you when that is the case, even though it costs us the vehicle.
Sell privately instead
A private sale usually returns more money, at the cost of your time, tyre-kickers, test-pilot riders and the risk of a payment that does not clear. If your vehicle is clean and the season is right, we will say so.
