Published fees, quoted in pounds sterling

Every fee we charge for a service is listed below at its published rate. Vehicle figures depend on the actual machine on the yard, so they are confirmed in writing when you view rather than guessed at on a web page.

Vehicle figures

Why there is no vehicle price list here

A used vehicle price depends on the machine in front of you: engine band, year band, recorded mileage and the condition sheet findings. Publishing a single number for a category would be misleading, so we do not.

What fixes the figure

Four things move the number, and all four are visible when you look at the vehicle rather than buried in a spreadsheet.

  • Engine band and licence category
  • Year band and recorded mileage
  • Condition sheet findings
  • Whether a part exchange is involved

What the figure includes

The figure we write down is for the vehicle. Service fees are shown separately at the published rates on this page.

  • Vehicle as described on the condition sheet
  • Ride-away preparation where applicable
  • V5C/2 and keeper change handled
  • A signed invoice listing everything

What it never includes

Insurance, road tax and any credit agreement are yours, and we will say so before rather than after.

  • Insurance for the vehicle
  • Road tax or the tax position after purchase
  • Credit agreement costs
  • Parts or labour beyond the disclosed condition

When the figures are held

A seven-day hold is standard once a deposit is taken, which gives you time to sort insurance or arrange funds.

  • Written hold agreement at the time
  • Deposit deducted from the balance
  • Vehicle taken off the live list
  • Deposit terms stated in writing

Payment and deposit terms

How and when money moves

There is no card surcharge, no booking fee and no administration charge that appears after agreement.

Deposits

A holding deposit is taken in person or by bank transfer and is deducted from the balance. The terms, including any cancellation position, are written down at the time of payment.

Payment methods

Bank transfer and cash are accepted. Cheque is accepted only by prior agreement and only where funds have cleared before collection.

Release of the vehicle

A vehicle is released once funds have cleared and the keeper paperwork has been completed. We do not release vehicles on a promise.

Cancellation

If you cancel a booking or a hold, tell us as soon as you can. What happens to a deposit depends on the terms written at the time, and we will always explain the position before you pay.

Refunds

Where a service has been paid for and we cannot deliver it, it is refunded in full to the account it came from. Where a service has already been performed, the refund position is set out in writing.

Fees and VAT

All fees are quoted in pounds sterling and include VAT where VAT applies to that service. Nothing is quoted exclusive of tax to look cheaper.

Fees questions

The pricing questions people actually ask

Can the fees be waived?
Occasionally, where a fee duplicates work already done as part of a sale — a ride-away preparation charged on a vehicle that has already been prepared, for example. If we waive something it appears on the invoice as a waiver, not as a silent discount.
Is there a fee to look at a vehicle?
No. Walking onto the yard and looking is free. The fee listed above is for a booked appointment where we have the vehicle out and ready and hold the time open for you.
Do you charge for a part-exchange valuation if I do not buy?
No. Valuation against a purchase is charged at £30 when the purchase completes. If you decide not to go ahead, you owe nothing for the valuation.
What deposit do you ask for?
A seven-day holding deposit of £95 is standard, deducted from the balance if you proceed. We will not ask for a larger deposit to hold a vehicle for longer without putting the arrangement in writing first.

Ask for a fee quote in writing before you commit

If a service you need is not on the list above, telephone us and we will either quote it at a published rate or tell you we do not offer it. Both answers are useful.
